Lothar is determined to see his sister wed so long as the groom is wealthy, and sufficiently old he can’t be expected to live long. Desperate to escape his plans to accrue more wealth at her expense, horrified when he welcomes Lord Wraith into their castle and then has him tortured and imprisoned, Lady Bridgett sees her opportunity to escape the fate her brother has planned for her and seizes it. But Lord Wraith is of no mind to wed the lady who has rescued him. Vengeance against Lothar is far more to his taste.
